The Girl the Rake Eats in the Third Post of Hidden in the Trees is a minor character from the blog Hidden in the Trees. As her name implies, she only appeared in the third post, "Inside the Empty City," wherein she was killed and eaten by the Rake.

Role in the Story

The Girl the Rake Eats in the Third Post of Hidden in the Trees was a young Doll of the Wooden Girl, and her appearance alongside Charlotte marked the first appearance of Wooden Girl Dolls in the blog. In her brief but memorable appearance, the Girl the Rake Eats in the Third Post of Hidden in the Trees is given no name, thus reflecting the senseless and impersonal brutality of death in the story, and underlining the true horror of it all. The Wooden Girl gives her to the Rake as part of a deal, and the Rake eats her while Joseph Steward watches.

What happens to the Girl the Rake Eats in the Third Post of Hidden in the Trees next is unclear, but as the Rake does not appear to possess an anus, it can be inferred that she never completed the digestion process.

Symbolism

It is likely that the Girl the Rake Eats in the Third Post of Hidden in the Trees is meant to symbolize corporations in modern America. The Wooden Girl's strings can therefore be interpreted as symbolizing the harmful affects of too much government regulation on working class people, and her death at the hands of the Rake shows the downfall of capitalism to communism. Or socialism. We're not very clear on the difference.
