An eldritch concept embodying the irrational. Common motifs include, but are not limited to: the surreal, dreams and nightmares, the subconscious, a lack of understanding, a loss of touch with reality, erratic behavior, impulsivity, insanity, overabundant joy, Id-like behavior, and absurdism.

The most common portrayals are The Grotesque, an entity that appears in a victim's dreams and either keeps them asleep for long periods of time or possibly acts as a prophet, The Glitch, a "broken" creature whose presence causes distortions in reality, and The Merryman, a distortion of a human caught in a state of constant happiness with no allegiance to anything other than pursuit of keeping himself entertained.
